Are you noticing moist wooden shavings on the floor or ground? Or maybe piles of sawdust near
baseboards, door jambs, and windowsills? You may also notice frass
containing pieces of other insects carpenter ants have eaten and disposed of.
That is a sign of an advanced infestation.
Carpenter ants are mostly black or deep brown with narrow waist, bent
antennae and their sizes range from 3.4 to 13 mm.
Carpenter
ants can cause severe damage to wood on properties. Their name originates from
how they create their nests.
When
their colony grows, they could be heard working inside the wooden structure to
enlarge their territory. They would even establish smooth pathways by chewing
the wood and pushing it out of the tunnels into your home which is where they work
and live. Should you note ants make an appearance from holes
in walls, ceilings, and cracks, this is another pointer to an infestation.
In addition to this, you may catch sight of a large number of ants in your home
or workplace .
If
their activities go unchecked, carpenter ants can cause a million rands worth
of structural damage.
There
needs to be an examination performed by qualified pest controllers to determine
if the bugs have nested in the property or are just passing through for food.
Our
Pest Control Operators have gone through rigorous training to understand the
chemistry of products used to eradicate these pests, ensuring that you receive
effective results. They are industry certified as required by the Department of
Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry in terms of the Fertilizers, Farm Feeds,
Agricultural Remedies, and Stock Remedies Act, 1947 (Act No. 36 of 1947) as
amended and the regulations relating thereto as published in Government Notice
No. R1449 of 1 July 1983.
Their examination of your property includes a site inspection, which involves identifying the type of pest, the degree of the infestation, and pest migration opportunities. We also issue recommendations and a detailed inspection report to ensure we break the culture of reinfestation.
